Unfortunately, some parents still leave their baby to themselves in the nursery at night. The babies sleep there restlessly and wake up, often shouting. A torture for the parents. Not only do you have to get up to comfort, the child may have to be breastfed or just want to cuddle.

Hallo,
Me and my 3 months old son are looking for a sleep solution that calms him down at night and makes getting up easier. Since I had a caesarean section, I can not lift heavy and have therefore decided against a free-standing cot. However, I also read that sleeping the baby in the mother's bed can increase the risk of sudden child death. Is this also the case with a side-by-side bed?

Hi Chantal,
Thank you for your comment on our bedside test and congratulations on the birth of your son!
Sudden infant death is a phenomenon that has not been fully explored. However, it occurs very rarely, about 600 infants are affected in Germany in the year. It is true that sleeping in the mother's bed is known as a risk factor, but there is a wide range of risks. Only when several factors apply to you and your baby, a concern is justified.
An extra bed is the ideal solution to have your baby with you at night. Your own little nest will not allow you to accidentally cover it up or turn it over, eliminating the risk factors.
Furthermore, you should never put pillows and blankets in the baby accessory. A sleeping bag or a backpack is best for keeping your baby warm at night.
A backpack also prevents the baby from turning on his stomach. Thus, another risk factor for sudden Kindestod is excluded.
We wish you and your son all the best for the future and remain
With kind regards,
