Basically: For texts and less complex graphics, a print resolution of 600 x 600 dpi is usually sufficient. For sharply printed photos, at least 1.200 x 600 dpi should be possible.
The abbreviation dpi stands for "dots per inch", in German: points per inch. 1 inch is 25,4 millimeters.
