What is follow-on milk?
Follow-on milk is a product mostly sold as powdered milk that is tailored to the increased nutritional needs of babies from the age of six months. It is mostly used from the point at which the baby is no longer satisfied with breast milk or infant formula alone, but it can also be used before it accepts the first porridge. Normal whole milk can also be used for less sensitive children, but its composition corresponds more to the significantly higher energy requirements of calves than small people. The higher nutrient content makes follow-on milk more filling than the milk used before, which is why it often leads to the child sleeping through the whole night for the first time. It is also said to make babies fat. However, this should not be the case if the dosage information on the packaging is followed correctly. If your child still gains too much weight after switching to the follow-on milk, it is best to check the complementary foods, which are usually introduced at the same time.
