How does a tomato press work in detail?
The tomato press (regardless of the manual or electric model) is made of different parts. There is a funnel on the device for filling. This is where the tomatoes (cut into pieces) are poured in.
Below the funnel is the snail that mashes the tomato with rhythmic rotating movements. The pulp is squeezed out, the skin and seeds stick. In a high-quality model, this snail-like channel is made of stainless steel or cast iron, which increases its durability.
The sieve acts as a filter and holds back the solid parts of the tomato. Only puree (tomato sauce) and juice come out. The collecting container, which collects the tomatoes, is located below the sieve.
With a manual tomato press, you have to control the movement of the screw conveyor yourself with the help of a rotary crank. Depending on the number of tomatoes, this can be exhausting. With an electric tomato press, you just press the electric switch and the device does the work by itself.
